Tolman received accolades for her performance as Minnesota Police Officer Molly Solverson, with Vanity Fair saying her that she "calmly and certainly completely stole the show". She won the Critics' Choice Television Award for Best Supporting Actress in a Film/Miniseries she was nominated as Best Actress at both the Emmy Awards & Golden Globes for her performance. Tolman was given the role of a guest on two episodes in the role of romance novelist Abby Berman on The Mindy Program the same year. As of 2015, Tolman starred as an supporting part in Michael Dougherty's comedy-horror film Krampus.
